Huckleberry App Review: Is Premium Worth It?

Huckleberry is one of the most popular baby tracker and sleep apps, with over 75,000 ratings on the App Store. The tracker is free; Plus and Premium add nap predictions, sleep plans and an AI chat. Here is what each plan costs and includes, what parents say about it, and when a different kind of app makes more sense.

The short answer

Huckleberry is worth paying for if your child is a baby or toddler and sleep is the problem. Its tracking, its SweetSpot nap predictions and its sleep plans written by sleep consultants are things RootWise does not do at all. Start with the free tracker and the two-week trial: both independent write-ups we read conclude that Plus, at $68.99 a year, is enough for most families, and that Premium is for serious sleep problems.

It is the wrong tool if what you need is help with behavior once your child is past the baby stage: tantrums, fights, the right words in a hard moment, or support in German or Spanish. Premium is $14.99 a month or $119.99 a year, and its AI chat, Berry, is built around the sleep and feeding data you log.

What Huckleberry is

A baby tracker and sleep app from Huckleberry Labs. The free app logs sleep, feeds, diapers, growth and more, and syncs between caregivers. Paid plans add SweetSpot, which predicts nap and bedtime windows from 2 months, and Insights, data-driven tips for babies under 18 months.

Premium adds personal sleep plans, which Huckleberry says come from its team of more than 30 sleep consultants and never require crying it out, and Berry, an AI chat that answers questions using your child's logs. Huckleberry describes the app as running from pregnancy to the toddler years.

The crossed-out prices on Huckleberry's pricing page, $14.99 and $11.99, are the monthly prices, not a discount: the yearly plans simply work out cheaper per month.

What parents actually say

Summarised from the most recent US App Store reviews, the reviews shown on Google Play, and two independent write-ups, one of which earns a commission from Huckleberry and says so. All are linked below.

What people praise

  • Shared tracking. The most common praise in recent App Store reviews is how easy it is for two parents or a caregiver to log feeds, naps and diapers in one place.
  • SweetSpot. Both write-ups name the nap predictions as the feature most parents actually pay for, and as cheaper than hiring a sleep consultant.
  • Berry, occasionally. The AI chat rarely comes up in recent reviews, but one parent praises it for answering questions without making them feel they were doing something wrong.

What people complain about

  • Upgrade prompts. The most frequent complaint in recent App Store and Google Play reviews is pop-ups and notifications pushing Plus or Premium.
  • Paywalled basics. Reviewers object to Apple Watch support and widgets sitting behind a subscription.
  • Recent bugs. Several recent iOS reviews report crashes, screens that will not load, or being logged out after updates.
  • Sleep anxiety. One write-up notes that the tracking can make some parents obsess over naps, and that a custom sleep plan is not instant.

Where Huckleberry is genuinely strong

  • A mature, well-rated tracker: over 75,000 iOS ratings averaging close to five stars, and 4.9 on Google Play.
  • SweetSpot nap and bedtime predictions, the feature reviewers value most, from 2 months.
  • Sleep plans written by sleep consultants, which Huckleberry says never require crying it out.
  • A useful free tier and a two-week trial before you pay anything.
  • It runs on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android, synced between caregivers.

Where it falls short

  • English only, according to its App Store listing.
  • Built for babies and toddlers. Insights stop at 18 months, and the sleep tools are about naps and nights, not behavior later on.
  • Premium is $119.99 a year, and Apple Watch support and widgets need a paid plan.
  • Frequent prompts to upgrade are the most common complaint in recent store reviews.
  • Huckleberry describes Berry inconsistently: its pricing table puts it in Premium, its Berry page says Plus and Premium.

Huckleberry compared with RootWise

We build RootWise, so read this section with that in mind. These are not the same kind of product: Huckleberry is a baby tracker with sleep guidance, RootWise helps with the hard moments of the years up to 10. The table shows where each one is the better buy, and on several rows that is plainly Huckleberry. RootWise prices are the US store prices.

Six of those rows go to Huckleberry, and the last one matters more than it looks: they have years of reviews behind them where we have almost none. If your child is under two and sleep or tracking is the problem, Huckleberry does things RootWise does not do at all. If you want help with behavior and the words for hard moments, in English, German or Spanish, that is what RootWise is for.

Which one suits you

Choose Huckleberry if

Choose RootWise if

  • What you need is the words for tantrums, fights and other hard moments.

  • You parent in German or Spanish, or switch between languages at home.
  • You want to try the free scripts before paying anything, with no account.

How we researched this

We have not bought Huckleberry, and this review does not pretend otherwise. There is no hands-on account of using it here, and no rating out of ten.

What we did instead, on 2026-10-19: read Huckleberry's own pricing page and help centre for every price, plan and policy, and its Apple and Google store listings for platforms, language and ratings. The iOS listing shows 75,150 ratings averaging 4.92, in English only; Google Play shows 4.9 from about 36,800 reviews. The sentiment section summarises the most recent US App Store reviews, the reviews shown on Google Play, and two independent write-ups. Every one of those is linked below so you can check any claim yourself.

Store figures and prices move. The ones here were read on the date shown at the top of this page, and where a number is stale you will be able to tell.

Common questions

Is Huckleberry Premium worth it?
If your baby's sleep is a real struggle and you want a personal plan from a sleep consultant, Premium adds what nothing free gives you. For nap timing alone, Plus already includes SweetSpot, and both independent write-ups we read conclude that Plus is enough for most families.
How much does Huckleberry cost?
The tracker is free. In the US App Store, Plus is $11.99 a month or $68.99 a year, and Premium is $14.99 a month or $119.99 a year. Huckleberry's pricing page shows the yearly plans as $5.74 and $9.99 a month.
What is the difference between Huckleberry Plus and Premium?
Plus adds SweetSpot nap predictions, Insights for babies under 18 months, Schedule Creator, AI logging and better reports. Premium adds personal sleep plans and Berry, the AI chat. Huckleberry's pricing table and help centre put Berry in Premium; its Berry page says Plus as well.
Is there a free trial of Huckleberry?
Yes. Huckleberry gives two weeks of free access to its advanced features. The Premium trial includes Berry but not the personal sleep plans, which need a paid Premium membership.
Is Huckleberry available in German or Spanish?
No. The App Store listing declares English only.
Does Huckleberry help with tantrums and behavior?
Only through Berry, in Premium. Huckleberry describes Berry as guidance for sleep patterns, feeding questions, and new behaviors or milestones, based on your child's logs. The rest of the app is built around sleep, feeding and tracking in the baby and toddler years.
Is there a Huckleberry discount code?
Huckleberry's pricing page says it offers select discounts to members during the year and announces them by message. We found no public code on its own pages. The yearly plans are cheaper per month than paying monthly.
How do I cancel Huckleberry?
In the app, under Settings and then Huckleberry Memberships. Cancelling stops the renewal but does not refund anything automatically: App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded by Apple or Google, website purchases by Huckleberry.
